Wanaka’s new Recreation Centre makes extensive and effective use of Resco Compact Laminate Multicom wall linings and Series 5000 cubicles.
Designer range colours, reflecting the local landscape, were specified from Resco by the Warren and Mahoney Architects Ltd team of Jeremy Dunlop (architect), Kelly Harrison (interiors) and Jesse Allely (technician).
The result is a stylish and distinctive appearance throughout the centre’s facilities. Kelly Harrison explains: “The soft grey base colour references the snow, ice and rocks and the green and blue the water, farmland and sky.”
The $13.9 million sports stadium, which doubles as an events centre, was opened in July this year. The opening of the flexible indoor space was a proud moment for the community and signalled the fruition of a project with a 10 year history. Inside there are options for a banquet hall for 600, or, with seating for 250, two basketball courts, two netball courts, three volleyball courts, four badminton courts, two tennis courts.
Large male and female changing rooms include showers and toilets. In addition there is another set of toilets for male and female, a staff changing area with shower and toilets and a first aid room. All these use the robust Resco Compact Laminate Series 5000 cubicles and Multicom wall lining.
Kelly Harrison says Resco’s product was chosen because “we knew they needed something really hard wearing for this stadium, it is going to be well used and knocked about”. She says they would “definitely” use Resco again and she and her colleagues appreciated the “great support at every step” that the specialist Compact Laminate company offered.
Resco general manager Troy Henriques adds: “We only use rugged, solid core Compact Laminate. Our pre-finished panels are water, impact and graffiti resistant and extremely low maintenance. We supply a range of products with New Zealand’s largest choice of colours, which we confidently back with lengthy guarantees.”
