Fitting out the rest rooms in a busy multi-screen cinema calls for an extremely robust product. But for Compact Laminate specialists RESCO, the brief for this cinema had a whole other dimension: Metro by HOYTS at Centreplace, Hamilton, is, in the words of HOYTS general manager of operations Matthew Garelli, “a cinema as unique as possible”.
Stylised design “squeezing the boundaries as far as we could” to create a striking cinema environment based on an industrial, underground train station theme encompassed the rest room areas as well as the public space at Metro in downtown Hamilton.
An added consideration for the design and logistics team was working within a constrained space; this was not a new build but a conversion of a closed multiplex movie premises. The result, says Matthew Garelli, “is something we are very, very happy with, there’s nothing else like it in New Zealand”.
The Compact Laminate toilet cubicle system installed at Metro is RESCO’s 5000 series. The 5000’s uncluttered lines and rebated doors afforded for the Metro space a functional, practical, economical solution whilst retaining all the strength and durability factors that make RESCO’s Compact Laminate products the smarter, easier, faster choice throughout New Zealand and in the Pacific Islands.
RESCO product specialist Troy Henriques explains: “Because we only use rugged, solid core Compact Laminate, our panels are the smart solution for any high use and abuse situation such as the Metro by Hoyts Cinema. All Resco panels contain Antibac, an innovative new bacteria-repelling compound that kills 99 percent of bacteria within two hours, for the lifetime of the panel.
“Our pre-finished panels are water, impact and graffiti resistant and extremely low maintenance. We supply a range of products with New Zealand’s largest choice of colours, including some the Hoyts design team particularly liked, which we confidently back with lengthy guarantees.
“We are a solutions company; we are here to help architects and builders create superior spaces, and there is no doubt Metro by Hoyts Cinema is in that category.”
