The “clean, minimal” appearance of Resco’s Series 5000 Compact Laminate toilet cubicles connects with the restructuring of Mediaworks’ bustling new Newshub floor.

The creation of the Newshub space is a response to today’s evolving media environment according to lead designer Jesse James Smith of workplace interior specialist firm Stack. “To create one large connected workspace for the new newsroom we relocated staff restroom facilities from the floor’s centre to the rear,” explain Jesse. “The concrete bones of the building were exposed for a raw industrial look and the Resco cubicles in New Graphite colour contrast this nicely with a minimal streamlined aesthetic.”

Durability is also an important factor in choosing Resco Compact Laminate, especially given the staff headcount on the floor is increasing says Jesse. “The client was aware their previous toilets were well used, so they were understandably keen to make sure the new ones stood the test of time.”

Refurbishment is underway in the rest of the building and Resco Compact Laminate systems, which Jesse describes as having aluminium profiles which are “smooth and easy on the eye”, will be used. Resco’s wide range of colours and the company’s flexibility and “openness to talking about custom detail” are also appreciated.

Resco general manager Troy Henriques highlights the function of their product, pointing out the recent extension of the antibacterial surfacing of their Compact Laminate to include all touch points such as indicator bolts, coat hooks and hinges. Resco’s Antibac antimicrobial protection (BioCote silver ion technology) reduces levels of bacteria on surfaces by up to 99% in just 2 hours and 99.99% within 24 hours (tested under: International standard JIS Z 2801:2000).
